Suffolk County Water Authority The physical plants and distribution systems were constructed between 1962-4. Since 1976 the water system has been operating year-round, which maintains a #5 ISO insurance fire rating for the Pines and provides drinking water for off-season residents. The #5 ISO rating reduces the fire insurance premiums paid by Pines residents. Water in the Pines comes from two deep pumping well stations - at Fisherman's Path and Harbor Walk - and is distributed over 7.2 miles of distribution mains. Drinking water is provided to approximately 615 customers, serving a summer population of up to 10,000. Water is also provided for fire fighting via 45 hydrants located throughout the Pines. The Suffolk County Water Authority provides two types of service: Class 1Seasonal water service that is turned on the second Friday in April and turned off on the second Friday in November. Administration: Suffolk County Water Authority |
